[About the Event]

To help overseas startups connect with Chinese capital and expand into and land in the China market, several Chinese local government technology innovation parks, the Boston Chinese Investment Club (BCIC), MIT China Development Social Initiative (MIT-CDSI), DME-Health, and the New England Chinese Information & Networking Association (NECINA) will jointly host the 2018 Spring US-China Venture Summit in Boston on May 5, 2018. The summit will focus on current technology innovation hotspots, covering AI, biomedical, fintech, blockchain and other areas. Outstanding startup projects looking to connect with Chinese capital and develop in China are welcome to participate.

Wuhan East Lake High-Tech Development Zone

Wuhan East Lake High-Tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or East Lake High-Tech Zone) was established in 1988. In 1991 it became one of the first national-level high-tech zones approved by the State Council. In 2001, it was approved as a national optoelectronics industry base ("Wuhan, Optics Valley of China") by the former State Planning Commission and the Ministry of Science and Technology. In 2007 it was approved as a national bioindustry base, and in 2009 it was approved by the State Council as the country's second national independent innovation demonstration zone. In 2016, it became one of the first national mass-entrepreneurship and innovation demonstration bases, and was designated as the Wuhan area of the China (Hubei) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

Ningbo

Ningbo is located in the middle of mainland China's coastline and on the southern wing of the Yangtze River Delta, and is a key strategic hub for the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Belt and Road Initiative. Ningbo has strong economic strength, with a regional GDP of RMB 984.69 billion in 2017, ranking 15th nationwide. Its annual port cargo throughput has ranked first among world ports for nine consecutive years, and its container throughput ranks third worldwide. The "Ningbo Bang" community of one million entrepreneurs is renowned globally; 116 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering hail from Ningbo (the most of any city), and Ningbo-born scientist Tu Youyou became the first Chinese-born scientist to win a Nobel Prize in science. In recent years Ningbo has rolled out a comprehensive package of talent policies, with funding of up to RMB 100 million for top-tier talent projects.

Nanhu Fund Town

Nanhu District in Jiaxing is one of the first provincial-level financial innovation demonstration zones in Zhejiang, and the home of Nanhu Fund Town, one of Zhejiang's first characteristic towns. With excellent location advantages and a strong economic and financial ecosystem, the town focuses on clustering the private equity fund industry to serve the real economy.

Boston Chinese Investment Club (BCIC)

Boston Chinese Investment Club (BCIC), formerly the Boston Chapter of the Chinese Finance Association of North America, has nearly 20 years of history. Its mission is to facilitate exchange and discussion among Chinese finance and investment professionals, build a platform connecting US-China capital and projects, and provide investment, financing, and career opportunities to its over 3,000 members through roadshows, seminars, and networking events.

The association has hosted many successful events with guests including former US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, former SEC Vice Chairman Michael S. Piwowar, US National Academy of Sciences member Bingchang Hu, former SEC International Affairs Director and CIC Deputy General Manager Jibin Qi, and former IDG partner Feng Li. In 2017 BCIC organized many roadshows, lectures, and discussions on blockchain, fintech, AI, and biotech, facilitating connections and information exchange between US and Chinese venture projects. BCIC maintains close relationships with leading capital firms in both the US and China, including E Fund Management, Sequoia Capital, F-Prime Capital, Eastern Link Capital, and FengRui Capital, and has reached strategic cooperation agreements with multiple incubators in both countries.

MIT China Development Social Initiative (CDSI)

The MIT China Development Social Initiative (CDSI) has been one of MIT's most important student organizations since its founding in 2008. Its mission is to provide MIT faculty and students with a reliable and sustainable platform for engaging with development opportunities in Chinese culture, education, and technology. During each academic semester, CDSI hosts various China-development events on the MIT campus. Every summer, CDSI hosts the Summer Leadership Program (SLP) in China, taught by MIT students for Chinese high school students. CDSI also joined as a co-organizer of iMUSE, an exchange forum among Tsinghua University, Peking University, Harvard, and MIT, providing top US and Chinese university students with substantive exchanges across innovation, culture, politics, and public service.

DME Health

DME Health is an investment platform created for cross-border investors in healthcare sectors and seeks to develop effective and efficient tools for partnership, financing, healthcare M&A, and technology licensing. It uses four tools to improve investment experience with higher efficiency and better outcome: partnering and financing events, media and communication vehicles, consulting, and an artificial intelligence backend – DME Intelligence. NECINA

The New England Chinese Information & Networking Association (NECINA) is the longest-established and most influential Chinese high-tech organization in the northeastern US. Since its founding in 1996, NECINA has been a non-profit dedicated to advancing the careers of Chinese-American technology professionals, cultivating leadership and innovation in the corporate world, helping startups grow, and bridging US-China science and technology exchange.
