Speaker 1: Daniel Luo, Ph.D. — Venture Partner, Red Stone Capital

Daniel Luo, Ph.D. is currently Venture Partner at Red Stone Capital, a healthcare fund based in Delaware. He was previously Assistant Director at Duke Capital Partners, where he focused on biotech, AI, and technology. Daniel started his investment career as an Analyst at Amzak Health, part of Amzak Capital, where he focused on mid-stage biotech companies in late preclinical to early clinical stages, in areas of oncology, neurology, and rare diseases. Daniel holds a Bachelor's degree from Penn State University, a Ph.D. in neurotoxicology from Iowa State University, and completed his postdoc training in radiation oncology at Duke University Medical Center.
Speaker 2: Shelton Zhou, MBA — Senior Associate, K2 Bio Partners

ZHOU Shiyuan (Shelton) is a Senior Associate at K2 Bio Partners. Shiyuan mainly focuses on early-stage Medtech and Brain-Computer Interface investments and led the investments of Limson Medical, Everthm Medical, and NovaSono, among others. Shiyuan holds an MBA from the Cornell–Tsinghua Dual Degree Finance MBA Program and dual bachelor's degrees from Peking University in Management of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Preventive Medicine. Shiyuan previously worked at BGI COWIN and Medtronic.
Speaker 3: Lily Xu, Ph.D. — Life Sciences IP Partner, Goodwin Law

Dr. Lily Xu is a partner in the firm's Life Sciences group and a member of its intellectual property counseling practice. Dr. Xu develops global patent strategies for startup and later-stage biotech companies. She also guides clients through competitive patent landscape analyses and conducts in-depth risk assessment of third-party patent rights. Additionally, leveraging experience as companies' IP counsel, Dr. Xu conducts IP due diligence for various business transactions.
Dr. Xu has a strong scientific foundation and deep technical understanding. Familiar with oncology, immunology, protein engineering (e.g., antibody technology), RNA interference, cell therapy (e.g., T cell and stem cell therapies), and gene therapy (e.g., nucleic acid vectors and CRISPR technology), Dr. Xu integrates critical scientific insights into her legal counsel.
Speaker 4: Peng Lin, Ph.D., J.D. — Principal, Fish & Richardson (Strategic IP Attorney)

Peng Lin focuses his practice on strategic patent prosecution, intellectual property counseling, legal opinions, cross-border licensing, due diligence studies, and worldwide patent portfolio development and management. He represents a broad spectrum of clients, ranging from early-stage startups to large, publicly traded biopharmaceutical companies across the globe. Partnering with clients throughout their growth lifecycles, Peng is dedicated to deeply understanding their underlying science to craft tailored IP strategies that protect and maximize the commercial value of their innovations. Notably, Peng has recently advised multiple Chinese biotech companies in high-stakes, multi-billion-dollar licensing transactions with global multinational corporations (MNCs).
Peng earned his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School and holds a Ph.D. in Human and Statistical Genetics from Washington University in St. Louis. Grounded in extensive research experience and formal training in human genetics, molecular biology, biophysics, and bioinformatics, he provides sophisticated legal guidance across a wide range of advanced technologies. His expertise encompasses antibody therapeutics, CAR-T and TCR-T immunotherapies, transgenic animals, nanoparticle delivery platforms, vaccines, diagnostic methods, microarray technology, small molecules, medical devices, and the application of artificial intelligence in pharmaceutical research and development.
A recognized leader in the bio-entrepreneurship ecosystem, Peng is a Kauffman Fellow and actively engaged in the global life sciences community. He has been a dedicated volunteer with the Chinese Antibody Society since 2016 and serves as the organization's President for the 2024–2026 term. In this capacity, he leads the nonprofit's efforts to advance global communication, exchange, and collaboration in the discovery, development, manufacturing, and commercialization of antibody-based therapies.
